Dr. Bagge's research broadly focuses on increasing understanding of the etiology, course, and treatment of suicidal behaviors across the lifespan. Incorporating a multimodal approach, her research focuses on establishing a nomological net to characterize observed associations with suicidality in terms of directionality, temporality, and mechanisms of action. Her current research focuses on the roles of acute substance use and life events on recent suicide attempts among psychiatric inpatients, as well as the interrelations among serotonergic genes, facets of impulsivity (using behavioral tasks), and suicide attempts. She also has a strong interest in psychometrics. Dr. Bagge currently serves as Principal Investigator on grants funded by NIH/NCRR and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
